What we believe

We believe that the Bible is the true word of God and is one perfectly harmonious whole (2 Peter 1:20 ).  God revealed it directly to many different writers who wrote the words God gave them (2 Peter 1:21 ).  In it God fully reveals His message for mankind. The Bible is our infallible guide for salvation and for the Christian life (2 Timothy 3:15-17 ).  The Bible is as relevant today as it was when it was completed almost 2,000 years ago.  Here are a few truths that God’s word teaches.  If you have any questions about any of our beliefs, we would be happy to discuss them with you.

GOD

We believe that God is One and is eternal, (Deuteronomy 6:4 ) yet co-existing as three distinct personalities, the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).  They are equal (John 10:30 ).  We believe that ‘in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth’ (Genesis 1:1 ), and that He upholds them today (Hebrews 1:3 ).

JESUS

He is truly God yet became truly Man (John 1:14 ).  We believe in His virgin birth (Luke 1:27-31), spotless holy manhood (1 John 3:5 ), vicarious death (Hebrews 9:28 ), bodily resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:3-7 ), and ascension back to Heaven (Hebrews 1:3 ).  We believe His return, is imminent to collect all who have trusted him for salvation by simple faith (John 14:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 ).  He is God's remedy for sin (1 Timothy 4:4-6 ).  He, having "offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God" (Hebrews 10:12 ).  He has been appointed judge of all mankind (2 Timothy 4:1 ). He will soon rule over the whole earth with perfect peace and justice (Revelation 20:6 )

MAN

Man was created by God in His image (Genesis 1:26 ).  His soul and spirit is eternal (Hebrews 9:27 ).  He enjoyed close communion with God in the garden of Eden, until sin entered the world through one man, Adam. “wherefore, as by one man SIN entered into the world, and death by Sin; and so death has passed upon all men, for that all have Sinned. (Romans 5:12 ).

SIN

Sin is our failure to meet God's absolute standard of holiness. When Sin entered the world (by Adam's disobedience) mankind’s fellowship with God was broken and he became subject to physical death (Genesis 3:19 ).  War, disease, natural disasters etc. are the consequences of sin and the curse (Genesis 3:17-18 ), but were never God's intention.

There is no exception - "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23 ).  God who is holy must judge sin.

There is no exemption - "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23 )

SALVATION - God's offer to forgive our sins and deliver us from His judgement.  This is made ours by repenting of our sins and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ who suffered the judgement of sin on the cross.

It is FREE! "the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23 ). It cannot be earned or bought because it is "not by works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:9
It is
EVERLASTING! It cannot be revoked, rescinded, or lost! Jesus said, "I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish; neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand." (John 10:28 )

It is NECESSARY! Not an 'optional extra'.  God "now commandeth all men everywhere to repent: because He hath appointed a day in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom He hath ordained; whereof He has given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him (Jesus), from the dead." (Acts 17:30 & 31 ).
